There are speculations making the round in Delta that former Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, has abandoned campaigning for Delta State PDP Governorship candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, in preference for Labour Party candidate, Great Ovedje Ogboru.

Victor Ochei

But Chief Press Secretary to the former Speaker, Mr. Nkem Osu, yesterday, said his boss had not chosen Ogboru saying Ochei was still campaigning for Okowa as his party had not adopted any other candidate than PDP Governorship candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

Osu said “quote me, my boss is still campaigning for Okowa, even right now we are in the campaign ground, Ochei is campaigning for Okowa”.

Sources had hinted that Okowa whom Ochei had constantly campaigned for in all his campaign outings was working against Ochei’s interest as sources quoted Okowa saying if Ochei must work for him, he should leave his party and return to the PDP.

But Ochei had told all Deltans that he only moved out of the PDP so as to have a platform to campaign and achieve his political ambition, noting that he had not decamped from the PDP.

In an attempt to compel Ochei to dump his senatorial ambition and give free ride to Peter Nwaoboshi, PDP candidate for Delta North senate, the PDP had, in February, expelled Ochei and some others who decamped from PDP to other parties to seek platforms to contest the 2015 elections.

Hence the PDP secretariat said there had never been agreement between the PDP and Accord Party under which Ochei is contesting the senatorial seat for Delta North.
