For their alleged involvement in some fraudulent practices, some members of the Delta State Hospitals Management Board Staff Multi-purpose Co-operative Society are currently helping officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to unravel the mystery behind the missing co-operative funds in excess of N10Million.

President of the Co-operative Society, Mr. Gabriel Odigwe, disclosed this Monday in Asaba during the 16th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the co-operative society held at the indoor sports hall of the Asaba township stadium, Delta State.

According to him, the financial crime which was allegedly committed by the culprits over a period of years, was perfected through the issuance of fake tellers from banks by the culprits to defray their loans at the society.

Although he did not disclose the identity of those involved, the society President assured that the co-operative society was committed to driving the case to its logical conclusion in order to serve as deterrent to other criminal-minded individuals in the society.

He said, “We discovered that some members of this co-operative society were defrauding the society for some years now through fake tellers from banks to defray their loans. They are being investigated by the EFCC.

“Fellow co-operators, I want to assure you that we will get all our monies back from those involved and that they will be prosecuted accordingly”, Odigwe assured.

Further, he said although the case is still ongoing, some of the culprits have since, because of the matter, resigned their appointment with the Hospital Management Board (HMB), while maintaining that the society is poised to ensure that justice is done
