*** Oborevwori Commends  Uroye For  Reaching Out To His People

The member representing Warri South Constituency I in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Augustine Uroye  on Monday doled out the sum of N12 million to his people in his first phase of his empowerment programme.

Hon  Uroye said the gesture was born  out of his desire to fulfill his election promises he made to his people during his campaigns.

The Lawmaker added  that the programme was his own little way of complementing what the state government under the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was doing in terms of human capital development.

Hon Uroye  said that  the 120 beneficiaries of the empowerment programme, mostly PDP party leaders and those who have worked for the party in the constituency got between N100 thousand each and N50 thousand each to start a trade or add to their existing trade.

According to him,  12 youths from the Constituency were selected to learn structural welding at the sum of  N250 thousand each, promising that a job awaits them at the end of their programme.

Hon   Uroye who spoke to Journalists said, “In governance the party is supreme and I am very proud to identify with the party because that is where they gave me the platform to serve. And ideally I should first acknowledge the party that I belong. If I don’t do that,  that means I must be an ingrate”.

“That is why what you are seeing here today is the party driving the process because it is  the agenda of the party. But the people who have benefitted from what you are seeing here today are not all card carrying members of PDP. They are people from the Constituency. I decided to pick twelve youths from all the wards in my constituency and train them in the best of skills as regards the oil sector.Today they are going to be trained in structural welding. So it is  not just a training that is done on the road side. I have assured them that because of the training they are getting, a job position already waiting for them”, he added.

Hon   Uroye said that in the next phase of his empowerment programme he will go down to the wards to select “the downtrodden, people with  small  shops, kiosks and all that so that we can give them something to give them sense of belonging”.

He commended Governor Okowa for for his human capital development programmes, saying, “The Governor is doing so well and he has told us that we should complement what he is doing. What I am doing now is complementing what the governor is doing.”

The   Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, commended Hon Uroye for the programme assuring that with the programme better things are coming to the people of Warri South Constituency I.

The Speaker who was represented by the member representing the people of Uvwie State  Constituency, Hon Solomon Ighrakpata, said, “This is a way of saying thank you to good people of Warri South Constituency I, for voting him into office. I want to say that with this empowerment, he has touched the lives of the people in his constituency.

In his goodwill message, Hon. Thomas Ereyetomi, representing Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, also thanked Hon Uroye   for the gesture, appealing to the beneficiaries to make good of the money given to  them.

Also the member representing  Isoko South Constituency 2, Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Ferguson Onwo said the programme “is a sign of good things to come because Hon Uroye   has barely done a year in the House”.

He added that;  “Programmes like this will quickly reach a lot of people if all the House of Assembly members and others emulate Hon Uroye”.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke on behalf of others  expressed gratitude to Hon Uroye  for  the kind   gesture promising that they will not  disappoint him.
