The College of Commerce, Warri, Delta State at the weekend held its 48th annual inter-house athletics competition, with Blue House emerging winner with 129 points.

Speaking at the College Sports Ground, the Principal, College of College Warri, Mr. Akra M. Sylvester gave thanks and adoration to God Almighty for making this conspicuous occasion possible.

According to the Principal, the competition was organized to expose the psychomotor learning domain of students in their academic activities adding that It helps in identifying leadership traits in students as their participation in organizing other students during competitions which leads to discovery of talents.

He said, “The competition help to bring together old students, parents and other stakeholders in Education; it also showcase the strength of the school to the public.”

The principal also said that; “It is pertinent to note that the school is still faced with a catalogue of challenges, the absence of government paid security personnel; no science laboratories; no examination school hall; inadequate staff quarters; no ICT centre and no sport equipment such as Javelin, Discs, Footballs, Jersey, Football Boots, and Spike Shoes e.t.c.”

Also speaking, the President of College of Commerce Old Students Association (COCOSA) Warri who doubled as the Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Dickson .M. Najomoh, commended and appreciated the Delta State Government led by Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan and School Authority under the leadership of Mr. Akra .M. Sylvester for a work well done.

He said the school environment is now safe for teaching and learning.

While presenting the Association widow’s mite donation and a Chalice Cup to the Principal of the College, Hon. Najomoh, promised that the Association would continue to call on the state government in providing solution to the challenges raised by the Principal especially in area of security personnel, urging well meaning individuals, group and community leaders to assist the school.

Our correspondent reports that Blue House emerged the Champion of the 48th Annual Inter-House Athletics Competition with 129 points; Red House with a total of 121 points (2nd position); Green House scored 111 points (3rd position); Pink House of 108 points (4th position); Purple House with 106 points (5th position) and Yellow House with a score rate of 76 points as the 6th position.
