In the wake of the aftermath of communal clashes between Aladja in Udu Local Government Area and its neighbour, Ogbe-Ijoh in Warri South West, the member representing Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon Solomon Ahwinahwi, has donated food items and relief materials to victims of Aladja community, his constituents.

The communal crisis, over land dispute, which has virtually crippled the economy of the once busy commercial town, has rendered many homeless, businesses closed down while the farmers among them have abandoned their farmlands for fear of attack.

The items donated to the people include bags of rice, beans, garri, cartons of noodles, toiletries and a giant cow.

The Federal lawmaker who sympathized with the people over the loss of lives and destruction of their properties as a result of the communal war, said the gesture was meant to cushion the devastating effect of the crisis on them.

Hon urged them not to carry arms but to continue their peaceful disposition pending when the issue will be resolved.

Hon Ahwinahwi, represented by the Director-General of his campaign organization, Hon Jacob Tone, was at the Palace of His Royal Majesty, Barr. B.E.O Delekpe JP, Ohworu I, The Ovie of Udu Kingdom, to sympathize with them and to intimate them of his efforts on the floor of the House to resolve the issue.

The Ovie, represented by the Otota of Udu Kingdom, High Chief Sam Odibo, commended Hon Ahwinahwi for the gesture and prayed for him.

The Ahwinahwi’s Relief Visitation Team which comprised of Prince Macaulay Dase, Chief Okiemute Oviri Okwagbe JP, his Special Assistant, Mr Sam Omoko and some members of his political organisation, were also at the residence of the Prime Minister of Aladja community, Chief Photo Ogbe, where the relief materials were presented.

Hon Ahwinahwi thanked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his efforts in resolving the issue and for his numerous development initiatives across the Federal Constituency.

Ahwinahwi, who promised to do more for the Aladja people, urged them to support the re-election bid of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in 2019.

Responding the Second Vice President of Aladja Community, Comrade Lucky Abeyi, thanked Hon Solomon Ahwinahwi for the gesture noting that it will help put smiles on the faces of the victims of the crisis.

Comrade Abeyi commended Hon Ahwinahwi for drawing the attention of the House to their plight and urged the House to expedite action to ensure the speedy resolution of the matter.

He stressed that Aladja is a peaceful community and appealed to the Federal and State Governments to send relief materials to beef up security in the community.

The second Vice President expressed their support for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Hon Solomon Ahwinahwi.
