Security operatives have been called upon to wake up to their statutory constitutional responsibilities of protecting lives in Delta Central Senatorial District to put an end to the rising ugly trend of incessant killings of Urhobo youths.

This call was made by an Urhobo socio-political pressure group, Campaign for The Economic Survival of Urhobo Nation (CATESUN) in a statement signed by it’s National President, Olorogun Ese Kakor made available to Reformeronline in Warri, the group said the continuous killings of Urhobo youths by suspected assassins, cultists, herdsmen and armed robbers is worrisome just as they decried the incessant killings of Urhobo youths in Delta State and beyond.

The Urhobo group was of the opinion that there was urgent need by security agents in the state and beyond to nip the ugly trend in the bud.

CATESUN lamented in the statement that there was no day that passes by without the news of killing in Urhobo nation, adding, “regrettably, Government at the State and Federal levels in response to these killings have been passive and nonchalant.”

While reminding both the state and federal government on its constitutional responsibilities to it citizens, CATESUN said, as elected representatives of the people, we are worried that these killings in Urhobo lands are unabating and we have a responsibility to remind the Government to live up to its responsibilities.

According to the group, “government should ensure the people enjoy their God-given right to life, by giving them necessary protection. It should rise up to its responsibilities of protecting the lives and properties of the Urhobo people and the country at large to avoid a descent to anarchy.”
