The Urhobo United Front {UUF } has berated the ex-President-General of the Urhobo Progress Union UPU, Chief Joe Omene over his comments on the Appeal Court judgment on the Delta Central Senatorial election describing him as the worst misfit in the history of the Urhobo nation.

Chief Joe Omene

Rising from a meeting at the weekend in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, the UUF in a statement signed by its National President, Chief Ovie Oghenevo described Chief Omene’s comments on the court verdict as not only self-seeking but misdirected.

The group noted that Omene’s comments further reveals his unquenchable desire to use the platform of the UPU for money making and self-aggrandizement adding that the UPU did not adopt any candidate for the position of Senate for Delta Central Senatorial District in the 2015 elections which was contested by three Urhobo sons.

“We frown seriously at the satanic attitude of Chief Omene who with his lavish lifestyle, womanizing and ostentatious living has started dancing naked in public because there are no contestant for any position to extort money from”.

The UUF observed that Omene’s recent comments in some dailies where is pure sycophancy that he is known for.

“Omene who is today impersonating as an engineer from an institution in Germany is now declaring support for the Labour Party candidate on account of his victory at the Appeal Court and the financial benefit he hopes to gain from him. Those he is attacking today are those who have empowered him beyond his competence” the statement said.

“The outcome of the 2015 elections in Delta Central cannot be said to be predicated on the position taken by the UPU. Other Urhobo candidates for various positions who were purportedly sanctioned by Omene’s fraudulent leadership won their elections and judgments at the Election Petition Tribunal which sat in Asaba and the Appeal Court in Benin-city”.

The Urhobo United Front recalled that Omene had before the 2015 general elections in one of his clandestine moves to Aso Rock in Abuja unilaterally after collecting over a billion naira from the PDP announced the adoption by the UPU of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

“It is on record that the squabbles and disagreement that arose over the refusal of Chief Omene to disclose and share the PDP Abuja election money resulted in the crack and split of his executive which could not be reconciled together until the Urhobo traditional rulers took the initiative to formally dissolve the exco”.

“We therefore called for the investigation and probing of the fraudulent activities of Omene in the 2015 general elections whereby he turned the UPU into a making venture. And recommend that Urhobo sons and daughters who in the future seek to occupy positions in the UPU should be people who neither are apolitical nor card carrying members of any political party”.

“Omene’s comments further portray him as an impostor whose reign as UPU President-General has put a taint to the vision of the founding fathers of the apex Urhobo socia-cultural body and the successes recorded by past PGs”.

The UUF takes serious exception to the taboo being committed by Omene in Urhobo over his attack on Urhobo traditional rulers who have in the past years taken similar action that brought the likes of late Chief James Edewor and Chief Benjamin Okumagba to become President-General of UPU.

We therefore call for urgent steps to be taken by members of the Urhobo political class irrespective of party affiliations like the traditional rulers did to save the image of the UPU from the hands of Chief Joe Omene who has antecedents for failure and is bent on continue smearing of the reputed name of the UPU and the Urhobo nation in the committee of nations of the Nigeria State.
