Chairman of the Warri South Council Area, Dr. Michael Tidi on Monday inaugurated an Anti COVID-19 Enforcement Taskforce to reinvigorated enforcement of COVID-19 preventive rules in public places, including communities in the council area.

The Taskforce is expected to commence it’s enforcement role on Wednesday July 1, 2020.

The chairman of the newly inaugurated Anti COVID-19 Enforcement Taskforce, Mr. Elvis Okpako Eboh, said this on Monday at the council secretariat shortly after the council chairmen, Dr. Michael Tidi, inaugurated the taskforce.

He said, “Inauguration of the enforcement taskforce, is part of renewed efforts by the council authority to halt the spike in Coronavirus cases in the local government area.”

Mr. Eboh, who warned that his team will not tolerate the apparent negligence on the part of hoteliers, owners of pubs, organizers of social events, action of some faith based organizations and other institutions as it affects the strict implementation of COVID-19 preventive measures, declared that it was time for everyone who flouted the COVID-19 preventive rules to take responsibility for their recklessness.

While assuring the Warri South Local Government Chairman that members of the enforcement team are ready for the task, Mr. Eboh, who is also the Warri South Council Supervisor for Community Development, Youths and Sports, enjoined all public institutions and community leaders in the local government area to cooperate with his team to curb the spread of Coronavirus and create the right atmosphere for better socio-economic activities in line with the philosophy of the Dr. Michael Tidi led administration.
