Delta state People’s Democratic Party(PDP) Gubernatorial candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa today promised tointroduce health insurance scheme into Delta State if he is elected theGovernor of the state.

Senator Okowa made this promise atOghara Township Stadium during the flag off of the Delta State PDP campaignrally.

Okowa said he is going to take the free maternal and child healthcareservices of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to the next level by introducing ahealth insurance scheme that will take care of People’s health in the state.

He said he is going to achieve this through legislative power where a billwill be introduced to back the scheme.

Senator Okowa said that Ghana had beenable to sustain their health insurance scheme, stressing that Delta State willbe able to introduce it and sustain it too.

While lambasting the critics ofPresident Goodluck Jonathan, Senator Okowa said that President Jonathan hastransformed the country more than any President has done.

He said Jonathan has been able torevive Nigeria’s rail sector that was abandoned by successive government in thepast, urging the people of Delta State to vote massively for President Jonathanfor him to continue his transformation agenda.

Senator Okowa stressed that Delta PDPremains one of the strongest party in the country, noting that they havereconciled and they are working together as one to deliver the state for PDP.

He said that if voted into power hewill concentrate on the agricultural sector because, according to him, withagriculture Delta State can become one of the most developed states in thecountry.

On industrialization, Senator Okowasaid he is going to concentrate on massive industrialization of the state,stressing that that is the sector that can gainfully employ the teemingunemployed youths in the state.

He also said that he will continue withthe urban renewal project started by Governor Uduaghan by concentrating on one localgovernment before moving to the next one.

Senator Okowa said the party will nottolerate people who are bent on dividing the state, warning that nobody shouldtry to sow seed of ethnicity into the conscience of the people as Delta stateremains one indivisible state. He said he will continue to build bridges acrossthe state.

Earlier, former Governor of BayelsaState, Dipreye Alamiesiegha in his speech said that PDP was not going to allowany other political party take over any political position in the country. Heurged PDP supporters to vote en mass for PDP in the coming general elections.

Delta State Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama said Delta State is a fertileground for PDP, assuring the national body of the party that the state willdeliver all its candidates in the next general elections.

Delta PDP Chairman, Edwin Uzor urgedall aggrieved party members to embrace reconciliation offered by the party, sayingthat the party still remains a party to beat in the upcoming general election inthe state in particular and the country in general.

He added that despite the massive development in the state, a lot more stillneeds to be done. He called on all party supporters in the state to have theirparment voters cards ready to defeat all opposition party in the day ofelection, noting that the party was not willing to lose any election in thecountry.

Prof. Sam Oyeivwaire, in his speechurged all Deltans to vote for President Jonathan, Okowa and all PDP candidatesin the country.
