…Calls for more partnership with the Local Government.

Warri – In marking the International Youth Day celebration, Mr Glen O. Arigi, Personal Assistant, Orientation and Enlightenment, to the Warri South Local Government Area Chairman, Hon. Dr. Michael Tidi, has called on youths in Warri and environ to embrace agriculture skill as a potential means for job creation and employability.

Arigi while speaking to press said that the theme for the 2021 International Youth Day celebration “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation For Human and Planetary Health” is timely as the world is grappling with imminent healthy food shortage with a growing population targeted to hit two (2) billion people by 2030 and, a world facing diverse challenges ranging from climate change, insecurity, health issues especially the COVID-19 pandemic, poverty amongst others.

He admonished youths in Warri and environ to embrace agriculture as the new oil for job creation and employment.

“As the country suffers dwindling economic impact due to the shortfalls in oil revenue and constant loss of jobs, it’s imperative that Youths diversify their interest into the agricultural sector which from inception has been the biggest job provider across the globe.

“We cannot remain idle looking for white collar jobs neglecting a critical sector as agriculture that’s capable of feeding our homes, local government area, state and nation thereby putting money in our pocket to cater for other bills,”He said.

Glen used the medium to call on investors to partner with the Warri South LGA Chairman in line with the Vision of previous Warri Economic Summits targeted at creating an agricultural hub for youth development in the area so as to boost food sufficiency and compliment the effort of the Delta State Government in this regard.

He went further tasked security operatives to up their games in ensuring that agriculturist and their produce are well protected.
