President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Delta Central and South senatorial District, Chief (Barr.) Egwuatu Eze

Resident Igbos in Delta State under the auspices of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday, commended the State Government for its transformation agenda and providing equal opportunity for both indigenes and non-indigenes, just as they pledge their continued support for his administration.

The President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Delta Central and South senatorial District, Chief (Barr.) Egwuatu Eze made the commendation in his speech during the courtesy visit on the Special Adviser to Governor Uduaghan on Non-Indigenes, Chief (Dr.) Athan Iwuchukwu.

Chief Eze who led members of the group on the courtesy visit introduced the Executives of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Delta Central and South senatorial District, appreciated Governor Uduaghan for the privileged and Favour given to two of their illustrious sons the opportunity to serve in his administration.

“We are here also to appreciate the Favour and privilege given to our two illustrious sons, Chief (Dr.) Athan Iwuchukwu, Special Assistant to Governor on Non-Indigenes and Francis Onuorah on Peace and Security Council to serve in Governance of Delta State. We are grateful to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan. We thank you.”

“We also appreciate the beautiful performance of Government of Delta State in Araea like Free maternal care, free medical care for babies under age five and area of transportation. Government promotion of fare competition in transport fare thereby reduced transport fare to a level that common man can conveniently pay. We also observe with joy the development/improvement in our roads. Total improvement in peace and security,” Chief EZE stated.

While presenting a copy of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, worldwide constitution to the Special Assistant on Non-Indigenes and quoting relevant sections of the constitution, President Eze called the government not to recognize any individual parading himself as a king as it’s a taboo in Ibgo land to have a king outside their area.

“We thank the Government of Delta State for her excellent performance. The Igbo Nation Delta Central and South Senatorial District, Delta State will co-operate and are ready to work with government of Delta State.”

Responding, Chief (Dr.) Iwuchukwu thanked members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo for the visit, saying that government recognizes the importance of the Igbo people in the state based on their contribution to the economy. He added that their population was enough for recognition, assuring them of government support at all time.

He described Governor Emmanuel as a detribalized Governor and a true Nigeria as he remains the only governor in the country who has appointed non-indigenes to serve in his administration.  He charged the Igbos to continue to support the administration of Governor Uduaghan.

Congratulated the new President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Delta Central And South Senatorial District and wished him well in his administration.

He reminded them on the need to be security conscious, saying that no one can successfully do business where there is no security. He therefore, advised them to always reach out to him anytime there perceived any act that could result to break down of law and order.

Other government functionaries who were on ground during the courtesy visit were the Press Secretary to the Governor (Warri), Mr. Linus Chima and the Barrister Vincent Omorie, the Senoir Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Affairs.
