The Delta State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated one of its own, HRM Monday Obukowho Whiskey, who yesterday 26th October, 2020, turned Traditional Ruler of Idjerhe Kingdom through the presentation of Staff of Office by Delta State Government.

In a Statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary of Council, Comrades Michael Ikeogwu and Patrick Ochei, the elevation of the journalist to a Traditional Ruler was described as one of the best things that has happened to the Union in recent times.

According to the Statement, “His Royal Majesty, Monday Obukowho Whiskey, Udurhie 1 of Idjerhe Kingdom, has been an active member of the Union, a role model and a father.

“Yesterday he became a Royal Father and it gladdens our heart, because we are sure of excellent leadership from him which will continue to be a thing of joy to the Media Constituency.

“We want to commend the Idjerhe Kingdom for the peaceful process of selection that has placed the right person on the saddle; and of course the Delta State Government for doing the needful.

“His Royal Majesty Monday Whiskey is a Monarch to trust and rely on based on his track records in the media industry, his experience and capacity to dispense justice in the most honest manner”, the Statement read.

The Statement also called on journalists to continue to exhibit the ethical conducts of journalism profession, adding that those who carefully observe such are usually distinguished on the day of reckoning.
