HRM Matthew Ediri Egbi J.P. Owawha 11 is the Monarch (Okobaro) of Ughievwen kingdom of Ughelli South Local Government Area just as his selection followed due process topped with the presentation of staff office by the Delta State Government as stated in the Delta State of Nigeria Gazette No 20, Vol.22 dated in Asaba on 17th May, 2012, said Ughievwen Traditional Council of Chiefs.

Traditional Council of Chiefs berated mischief makers for misinforming the public that Ughievwen has no monarch yet saying HRM Matthew Ediri Egbi J.P was presented with a staff of office in a colourful and well attended ceremony on December 9, 2011 by the Delta State Government.

Ughievwen Traditional Council of Chiefs said that all issues relating to the succession of Okobaroship of the kingdom were adequately and effectively argued in Suit No HCG/35/2011wherein the High Court resolved them and gave judgment in favour of Owawha sub clan, adding that, “HRM Matthew Ediri Egbi J.P. being the Otota of Owawha sub clan then as the person entitled to be installed as Okobaro of  Uhievwen Kingdom.”

While calling on all Ughievwen sons and daughters of good will to meet with the Council on all issues of difference to fashion out the way forward, the Ughievwen Traditional Council of Chiefs disclosed that, “the purported coronation of Chief Thomas Karo Okotete was declared non-existent by the Honourable Court which judgment the said Chief Okotete initially appealed against but later withdrew the appeal and all applications filled pursuant to it.”

According to the statement, “the issue of which sub clan is entitled to produce the Okobaro of Ughievwen having been decided by the Delta State High Court, all parties in the suit which indeed were the four (4) sub clan of Ughievwen kingdom owe a duty in the interest of Ughievwen kingdom to come together to plan the way forward on the quest of elevating Ughievwen to it’s due place in comity of kingdoms having lost so much during the period there was Okobaro on the throne”.

The Traditional Council of Chiefs then called on all Ughievwen sons and daughters at home and in diasporas to join in the quest for a better and greater Ughievwen Kingdom under HRM Matthew Ediri Egbj J.P rather than sow seeds of discord, cause confusion and promote odium.
