Friday March 28, 2014 was certainly not the best of day for motorists in Warri and Effurun as they were all stranded in different parts of the cities, no thanks to on-going construction activities.

Long traffic at the Effurun Sapele, Effurun

Motorists around had a hectic time driving from the popular junction in Uvwie local government area to the Effurun Roundabout.

Our correspondents who went round Warri and Effurun report that the traffic gridlock crippled commercial activities in the twin city.

Motorists attributed the gridlock to the ongoing construction of the BRT by Delta State Government on the Effurun/Sapele Road, lamenting that no adequate measures were put in place to check traffic flow.

Another long traffic at Refinery Road, Effurun, Delta State

It was also observed by our correspondent that the construction of the fly-over bridge at the Effurun Roundabout also caused a major traffic jam in the area.

In the Ajamimoghan and Ogbunwangwe areas of Warri, motorists were also choked in the heavy traffic also as a result of ongoing rehabilitation works.

A motorist told National Reformer in Warri that: “Everywhere I turned today i met with frustration as they are all blocked. Our government is killing us. No fuel and the little one we have we are burning it on the heavy traffic in Warri and Effurun. Government should not kill us because they are constructing road for the people.
