The President General of Ibruvwe Development Union (IDU), an umbrella body for the four oil producing communities (Ibruvwe, Samagidi, Atagbuhwe and Erohike) in Kokori clan in Ethiope East Local Government area of Delta state, Comr. Jonathan Ikumariegbe has harps on the need for members of the IDU to remain united for growth and development of the Union.

Comr. Jonathan stated this during his presentation of his stewardship account of his two years leadership as President General of Ibruvwe Development Union (IDU), stressing that, the major reason why the Union has not move to greater heights, is as a result of the series of Court and Police cases between some members of the Union and the executive.

He commended the Elders Council and every members of the Union who contributed immensely to the success of his administration during his tenure, urging them to still do the same for the incoming executive in order for growth and development to come into the Union.

He further stated that, “the series of Court and Police cases bedeviling the Union has hindered the growth and development of the Union, noting that, fighting, litigation and quarreling will never move the Union forward and were there is crisis development cannot come in”.  While he attributed the series of Court and Police cases between some members of the Union and the executive to lack of cooperation of some executive fighting for their own selfish interest.

According to him; “The community/family is financially down because we only depend on the Freedom To Operate (FTO), a document which they always signed with contractors to the Oil companies operating in the clan.”

“Why there is no much development and progress in the Union is because our brothers from the outside Kokori has distance themselves from any of the family activities. This is because we value money more than development. “

While going through the expenditure of his tenure, he said that, the total money in the account of the Union cannot be ascertain as he maintained that, the outgoing treasurer of the Union, Obukowho Ewharare is with an undisclosed amount of the Union money and however pleaded with the Elders council and every members of the Union to exercise patience till when the treasurer will be available to provide the money.

While responding to the President General stewardship account, Pa Daniel Aruoture and Olorogun Soso Enakarakpo , urge all members of the Union to key into the PGs address, that they no longer need problem in all the communities under Ibruvwe Development Union, stating that, “A peace committee will be set-up to look into the problem in the Union”, just as they vowed to summon the outgoing Treasurer of Union to refund any of the Union money in his custody.
