It was celebration galore yesterday in Oleh, headquarter of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State as Akpos United of Igbide beats Okagbara buffalo of Okpe-Isoko to win the median edition of Isoko Unity Cup.

The final competition which was held at the Oleh township stadium saw Akpos United of Igbide as the newly crowned champions of Isoko with a keenly scored goal by Chibuike  Anayo on the second minute of the game after a brilliant pass from Wisdom Efe his team mate.

Isoko Unity Cup, a football competition being organized by Dr Sunday Ofuafo to discover raw talents, develop grassroots sport  and  to unite all youths across Isoko land through football attracts spectators from all nook and crannies of Delta state especially football and sport lovers.

According to the Organizer,  Dr Sunday Ofuafo, the aim and objective of Isoko Unity Cup is to “preach peace and unity, preach youth development using sports, harnessing raw talent and give moral education which are ingredients for building a strong productive nation.

“We hope to give lectures on morals, organize competitions in primary and secondary schools from time to time as well as visit organize inter quarter games, schools inter-house competitions to scout for raw talents for development.

“As you all know, football and sports are capital intensive. In this regard, we are also soliciting for your support and encouragement for continuity, because it is a tall dream that deserve your support”.

Also speaking the Director of Sports Technical Delta state, Baba Remi Agbaowe,and a sport analyst, Pa James Obi,  lauded Dr Sunday Ofuafo efforts for his love towards sports and his courage in ensuring that football and sports at the grassroots level are being develop.

Hear them, “From the game played today, we have scout two yound talents that can play in the U23 or U20, i.e Wisdom Efe and Chibuike Anayo. They have good ball control and they are understood each other. This is to show that here in Isoko, we have young talents that if well nurture can represent Nigeria at the national level.

“We are calling on meaningful sons and daughters of Isoko as well as Deltans to support grassroots sport and football so that these young lads can represent Nigeria at the national levels”.

Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of medals to the first and second position as well as cash prizes to them including donations towards the continuity of Isoko Unity Cup.
