Engr. Prof. Emmanuel A. Ogujor, Rector, Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara has bagged the prestigious Best Performing Rector in the Niger Delta Region Award for his passion towards building a better educational sector for youths and students.
 
Presenting the award to him, Com. Martins Abebe, President, National Association of Niger-Delta Students (NANDS) disclosed that his selection for the award was arrived at after a critical and meticulous assessment of his antecedents in his untiring efforts to reposition the Institute with a view to move it to greater heights.
 
Com. Abebe further disclosed that Prof. Ogujor  love for the youths and students of the region particularly worked in his favour to get nominated for the award and subsequently earning the award  noting that Engr. Prof. Ogujor  stands shoulder high above his peers through his exemplary leadership style in handling the administration of the Polytechnic.
 
According to Com. Abebe, “you were chosen for the award after a critical and meticulous assessment of your antecedents especially your outstanding leadership qualities in repositioning out great Polytechnic. Your relentless commitment in encouraging teaching and learning in school thus reducing incidents of examination malpractice as well as your continuous advocacy for the educational development in our society placed you shoulder high above your peers to qualify you for the award as “Best Performing Rector in the Niger Delta Region.”
 
Com. Abebe added, “sir, what particularly attracted you to us was your love for youths and students in Delta State, most especially, your exemplary lifestyle and your passion towards building a better educational sector. You are a worthy educational ambassador, a key factor to growth, peace and development in Nigeria.”
 
He solicited the cooperation and assistance of the the Rector to enable them carry out some of their outlined programmes such as provision of notebooks, office equipments and workshops/ seminars/sensitization programmes to redirect the psyche of the average Niger Deltan youth  from violent to non-violent approach in the Niger Delta struggles.
 
The President of National Association of Niger Delta Students(NANDS) spoke further, “we are obliged to inform you that as part of our aspirations, NANDS has decided to partner with genuine leaders like you and non governmental organisations in searching for political solutions to the problems of Niger Delta and Nigeria.”
 
Accepting the award, Engr. Prof. Emmanuel A. Ogujor , Rector, Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara express his appreciation to God, staff, students and management of the Polytechnic and leaders and members of National Association of Niger Delta Students (NANDS) for the honour done him.
 
Prof. Ogujor disclosed that successes and achievements recoded so far were achieved through collaborative and combined efforts of staff, students and management of the Polytechnic, noting that the award would act as stimulant for him to do more
 He further disclosed that his dream is to work hard in collaboration with staff and management of the polytechnic to raise the standard of the Institute to international standard as obtained in the United State of America in structures and quality of academic.
 
High point was the presentation of the award to Prof. Ogunjo
