The chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon (Dr) Michael Tidi on Wednesday said the ongoing beautification of Warri and it’s environs will attract investors and tourists to the area.

Tidi said this in Warri during a meeting with the Chairman of Tomatoes sellers and the chairman of Fairly used clothes (popular called Okrika) in Warri South.

The Warri South chairman said his administration was keen on making sure that Warri becomes the most beautiful local government area in Nigeria where tourists and investors will come and do businesses.

Tidi, who was speaking at the background of the dirty nature of Warri and environs said this time around government would not sir down and fold it’s arms while some few elements in the council continue to encourage lawlessness.

He said his administration was also interested in developing and expanding all the markets in Warri South, noting that the council will not condone any undue interference from any community leader.

He therefore, ordered all traders of fairly used clothes displaying their wares around Maciver market to relocate to Pesu market where the government has approved stores for them.

He warned that after one week grace, any person found displaying fairly used clothes around the market will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

“We cannot continue to do thing the way we have been doing before. There is no city in the country where the government will allow traders to trade in roundabouts that is meant to beautiful the place.

“We don’t want anybody to display their wares at that roundabout because we want to beautify the place. I want those of you who do not have shops to go to Pesu market because we will not tolerate any illegal display of wares on our roadside,” Tidi said.

Chairman, Okrika Market Traders in Maciver, Amalili Stephen, and his executive who were present at the meeting, said they were going to cooperate with them council chairman to ensure that all the markets in the area are developed.

The Warri South council boss also appealed to the Chairman of Tomatoes sellers in the council to start selling tomatoes in Pesu market too.

Tidi said this became necessary due to the demands by traders in Pesu market who are complaining that trailers carrying tomatoes do not come to the market.

Chairman of the tomatoes sellers of Sapele Road, Mallam Ibrahim Abdul Malik, while responding to the request assured Tidi that his men will start businesses at Pesu market before the end of next month.
