THE Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa has been urged to appoint Chief (Dr.) Henry Ofa as the new Chairman of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC).

Dr. Henry Ofa represented Ethiope West, Sapele and Okpe in the Board of the commission that was recently dissolved by the State Government.

But impressed with his achievements in the Commission, a pressure group, Total Justice For The Masses, appealed to Governor Okowa to consider Dr. Ofa, who is from Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state as the next DESOPADEC Chairman.

President of the group, Mr. Lome Kings said the former Board of DESOPADEC brought massive development to the people and empowered many, saying that Dr. Ofa knows the working of the Commission.

“We all know that the Board of DESOPADEC has been dissolved by the State Government and we are also aware that there is a proposed DESOPADEC (Amendment) Bill before the State House of Assembly; I am imploring our dynamic governor that he should appoint Dr. Henry Ofa as the next DESOPADEC boss in reconstituting the Board of the Commission.

The Urhobo nationality has not produced a Chairman of the Commission and we feel that this is the time to do the needful. Dr. Ofa is an upright Urhobo man that can move the Commission to the next level. His track records are there in the Commission for everyone to see,” he said.

According to him also, “Dr. Ofa was able to spread development to Okpe, Sapele and Ethiope West Local Government Areas as a member of the Board of DESOPADEC. He is tested and trusted and we are very sure of his ability to pilot the affairs of the Commission if he is made the Chairman in the new Board. His achievements are too numerous to mention. Dr. Henry Ofa is a lover of development and that is why we are imploring Governor Okowa to consider him as the next Chairman of the Commission, he will not fail the people.”
