Following the announcement of the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Chief Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, as the winner of the Delta Central Senatorial District bye-election, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has revealed that the party’s ward structure gave them victory in the election.

The Governor who made this revelation at a victory party held at his house in Warri, said that the victory had shown that the PDP had built a strong ward structure in the state, urging its members not go to sleep because of the victory, but rather work towards strengthening their wards.

He said; “We are here today and we are victorious. We must remain united and must not be carried away by this victory. More elections are coming. From this election it has shown that we have built a strong ward structure in Delta State, and that is what had given us the victory that we are celebrating today. Let us go back to our wards and strengthen them.”

He emphasized that ward chairmen were the most important party supporters in any party structure, urging all party members to support them and rally round them.

The Governor said that with the victory at the Delta Central Senatorial district bye-election, PDP has shown the whole world that they are a party to beat in any election, stressing that the party had reclaimed its lost mandate and its reconciliation moves had been successful.

He also reminded PDP party faithful that the party was supreme, saying that if the party had not projected them out, they should remain patient and faithful and stop jumping from one party to the other as their own time will come.

While congratulating Chief Aguariavwodo for his victory, Dr. Uduaghan advised him to always remember his root when he gets to the senate, stressing that he must bring the dividends of democracy to the Urhobo people.

He said; “May this not be the last time we are going to see you. Always find time to come back home and consult with your people so that when you go back you can fight for their rights. Go and bring all the dividends of democracy to your people.

On his part, the Delta Central Senatorial district winner, Chief Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, thanked the people of Delta Central for their support, promising that he was going to do his best in ensuring that he brings the dividends of democracy to his people.

Aguariavwodo also thanked Governor Uduaghan for his excellent leadership quality exhibited all throughout the election, saying that the victory was for the people of Urhobos.

The Delta State PDP Chairman, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi, who also spoke at the occasion, pleaded with PDP members to stop destroying themselves, noting that it was only when they house was divided that other parties can defeat them.

Nwaoboshi also thanked the other PDP aspirant for their understanding, stressing that PDP would not have had the victory they were celebrating if the other PDP aspirants had revolted against the party for not picking them.
