Sports Writers Association of Nigeria Delta State Chapter has charged visiting journalists from across the country to the host State, Delta for the 7th National Youth Games (NYG) to collaborate with journalists in the state in giving the public the true pictures of events as it unfolds during the games which commences Thursday, September 21, 2023.

This call was made by Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Delta State in a statement signed by Comr. Christian Eze and Comr. Clarkson Ogo, Chairman and Secretary respectively, the Delta State chapter of SWAN said that it is unprofessional and unprogressive for some journalist to see only the negative side when reporting events.

While admonishing visiting journalists, the State SWAN said such reporters may think their report will draw attention for a temporary and selfish benefit but their myopic reasoning will blindfold them not to know that they are giving Nigeria as a country a negative image.

Delta State SWAN slso reminded all journalists that events such as the youth games creates avenue for bonding among journalists in the country.

SWAN Delta remind those who are sourcing for negative stories to note that Delta state is a Big Heart that accommodates everyone especially with the access to the Chairman of Delta State Sports Commission, Chief Tonobok Okowa, doesn’t mean that they will encourage any form of distraction.

The Sports Writers advised all to put efforts to support the Delta State Government who at these difficult times took up the responsibility to host the 7th National Youth Games.

Delta SWAN disclosed that Chris Anazia, Director General and the Local Organising Committee (LOC)have giving the assurance to host the best National Youths Games.

They added that the Local Organising Committee (LOC) or Media Sub Committee are on ground to assist at all times.
