The Niger Delta Peace and Development Forum (NDPDF) has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari on his swearing in as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for a second term in office, describing his re-election as a testimony of his uprightness and transparency in governance, with a call on Nigerians to support the President.

In a statement made available to newsmen today in Warri by its National President, Sir High Chief Assay Anthony Omamuzo; Secretary General, Dr. Otonye Nelson-Ebimie and Director, Publicity/ Media, Barr. Sunday Ukanga, the group also congratulated the Niger Delta State Governors of Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta), Prof. Ben Ayade (Cross Rivers), Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Dr. Victor Ikpeazu (Abia) and Chukwuemeka Ihediola (Imo) on their well deserved victories at the just concluded March 9 Gubernatorial Poll.

The statement had expressed a vote of explicit confidence in Mr. President’s leadership quality and attributes, saying that his continued pursuit for economic repositioning, infrastructural renewal, agricultural revolution, war against graft, educational development has proven him a man of integrity.

They called on the President to “run an inclusive government as promised under the new dispensation to unite the diverse of people of Nigeria now, more than ever before, urging him to double his effort in the fight against insurgency, internal security and corruption in the country.”

According to NDPDF, “We have no doubt that the second term of President Muhammadu Buhari will not only strengthens the unity of our great nation, we are confident that as he assume office, Nigeria will be greater, stronger in unity, wealth and sustainable development.”

The statement further reads, “As the President leads this great nation to the next level; the group and the good people of Niger Delta Region wish our exemplary leader good health, greater strides and God’s guidance.

Speaking in same vein, the group’s Chairman-Board of Trustees, Prince Hon. Adele Sam-wobo said, “We are grateful to God Almighty for the peaceful and successful conduct of the 2019 Presidential/ National Assembly elections and the Gubernatorial Poll”.

Hon. Sam-wobo also said that it was high time Nigerians do away with rancour and bitterness while sincere and concerted efforts should be put in place to address insecurity as well as bad governance in Nigeria.
