Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, has called on people of Warri South Local Government to exercise extreme caution so as to avert recurrent cases of fire outbreaks in the area.

Dr. Tidi’ s advice came on the heels of two cases of fire outbreaks reported in Warri within the last 24 hours.

The Warri South Council Boss in a statement released this afternoon, Friday January 3, noted that the harmattan season with its attendant dryness and wind, had made it imperative for people, especially residents of Warri to switch off unused electrical appliances and disconnect them when leaving their homes.

While also warning against bush burning and other activities capable of igniting fire, Dr. Tidi advised power generation and distribution companies to fix power lines in bad shape.

He stressed the need for people to stop the storage of petroleum products around their homes and business places, saying such act is capable of spreading inferno in the harmattan season.
