Deltans, relevant Government agencies as well as major stakeholders have been called upon to sustain the prevailing peace in Nigeria in general and Delta State in particular with a view to move the nation to greater heights.

This call was made by CC Suleiman A. Jimoh, Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Delta State Command during the 2023 United Nations’ International Day of Peace in Asaba, he said that sustainable peace gives room for national growth, integration, overall national advancement and development.

Commandant Jimoh disclosed that there has been a steady and progressive fight by his Command against vandalism of Critical National Assets in keeping with the zero tolerance stand of Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Commandant General of the NSCDC on the scourge and work towards sustaining peace around national installations.

Accordng to Commandant Jimoh, “I want to use this opportunity to call on critical major stakeholders to work in synergy to sustain the prevailing peace in our dear country in general and Delta State in particular. I solicit your cooperation in our steady and progressive fight against vandalism in keeping with the Commandant General’s zero tolerance stand against vandalism and his commitment to protect Critical National Assets
and infrastructures, this, no doubt would contribute towards sustaining peace in Nigeria.”

He said that the theme for year 2023, “Actions For Peace: Our Ambition For The # Global Goals” drives home the desire of the world to continue to celebrate non-violence and ceasefire.

Commandant Jimoh added, “the international day of peace which was launched in 1981 that has since become an annual event has served as a platform to mobilize a common front driven towards achieving the much desired global peace.”

Commandant Jimoh then enjoined relevant stakeholders, agencies of Government, international and global actors not to relent in their ever-increasing efforts to achieve global peace.

The Delta State Commandant of the NSCDC expressed his appreciation to Dr. Audi, Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the entire Corps for their immense contributions to the sustainable peace in the country, he then urged all other state actors and non-state actors to imbibe same so as to make Nigeria a shinning example to the world.
