Delta State chapter of the Host Communities of Nigeria producing Oil and Gas (Hostcom) has dissociated itself from Chief Francis Vivakpor who is parading himself as the chairman of Delta Central Hostcom saying that it is in support of the unanimous decision of Delta Central Hostcom to impeach Vivakpor and appoint Hon. Festus Pemu as their coordinator.

In an unusual meeting between the Delta State executive and the Delta Central Hostcom held at Uvwie in Uvwie Local Government of Delta State held on Tuesday, the state executive frowned at Vivakpor who still parades himself as the chairman warning him to desist from acting in the capacity of Delta Central chairman. The state also declared that all documents and certificates which he uses to pose as the Delta Central chairman are null and void.

While addressing members of Hostcom, the state chairman, Hon. Benjamin Ewetan asserted that Chief Vivakpor was impeached by the Urhobo (Delta Central) Hostcom for his autocratic leadership saying that since it was a unanimous decision by the house in line with the constitution of the house, the state has no option but to support it for the interest of Urhobo and Hostcom. He added that Vivakpor should hitherto desist from using his name or the state to carry out his acts.

“Hostcom has come a long way. It is a legal body duly registered. We will not allow any person or group of persons to come up and parade himself as leader of Hostcom. We stand by the decision of Urhobo. The only recognized body in Urhobo Hostcom is this body led by Hon. Festus Pemu. Any other person parading himself with any document or certificate is on his own. I dissociate my name from such person.”

Ewetan who reaffirmed the appointment of Pemu as the coordinator of Delta Central Hostcom admonished him to carry out his duty as a servant leader and attract the necessary development to Urhobo nation without fear or intimidation since he has the backing of the state body.

In his response, Pemu promised to work with members of his executive to actualize the Urhobo dream adding that the appointment was an opportunity to serve.
