An Ijaw group under the auspices of Gbaramatu Political Forum has vowed to support the gubernatorial aambition of the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship flag bearer, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa

Ifeanyi Okowa

The group made this vow on Sunday in Warri, Delta State in a statement signed by Chief Godspower Gene kama and Comrade Isaiah Ogah, Chairman and Secretary respectively.

They congratulated Senator Okowa for his victory at the PDP primary, vowing to mobilise support to ensure his overwhelming victory in 2015.

They also warned those who want to set the Ijaws of Gbaramatu against their Itsekiri’s neighbor for their selfish reasons to desist from such act, saying they will fail.

The Ijaw group also congratulated the  Member representing Warri federal Constituency, Mr. Daniel Reyenieju, member of the DTHA, Daniel Mayuku and Mr. George Ekpemupolo, Warri-South West Council Chairman.

While pleading with other ethnic groups in the state to stop castigating the Ijaw people for their support for Okowa, the Ijaw group noted that it was a great sacrifice for them to jettison their sons who contested the guber primaries and that it was a mark of dedication and commitment to equity and fairness.

The group frowned at the way and manner some people were insulting High Chief Government Ekpemupolo for his support for Okowa, stressing that as in individual he should not be castigated for his interest and support.

The stated further that rather than pouring insults on Tompolo, Tompolo  should be seen as a detrabalised Deltan, who understands the aspirations of the various ethnic groups in the state,

“We all want peace in the state, so people should check what they say in the media, they should chew with caution and not incite the reading public with a view to demonizing any ethnic group. Deltans are one people and we should learn to tolerate one another.

“It is on record that the Gbaramatu people supported Felix Ibru, Ibori and Uduaghan, so why should  their support for Okowa now be subjected to scrutiny and daily commentaries,” they queried
