The Warri  Ijaw Peace Monitoring Group (WIPMG) has given the Chairman of Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon George Ekpemukpolo a clean bill of health, urging the Economic  Financial Crimes and Commission (EFCC) to ignore the call for his probe.

Chairman of WIPMG, Chief Patrick Bigha in a press statement while reacting to the call for the probe of the Council Boss said it was unfortunate that some faceless and jobless people were inviting the EFCC to investigate “one of the best performing Chairmen in Delta State”.

A group, the Warri South West Monitoring Group with Ebiwei Loye  as the Chairman had called on the EFCC to probe the activities of Hon Ekpemukpolo, saying he was not being transparent with the affairs of the Council.

But reacting, the WIPMG described  the Warri South West Monitoring Group as faceless, insisting that the Chairman of the Council has performed tremendously in the face of financial challenges.

The Group wrote thus; ” Our attention has been drawn to the call by a faceless group calling on the EFCC to probe the hard-working Chairman of Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon George Ekpemukpolo. We are not holding brief for the chairman and ordinarily we would have ignored the faceless group and it’s call for the probe of the Chairman, but we have to do the needful to put the record straight.”

According to the group;”The Chairman did his best in his first term in office and based on his performance, he was re-elected by the people. Many of his counterparts who did not perform never had a second chance. The Chairman should be commended as he has tried his best within the available resources “.

” Calling on the EFCC to probe the Chairman is mischievous and this faceless group should know that the Council Boss is not Tompolo for as far as we are concerned, since they cannot get  Tompolo, the best thing to do is to turn the heat on the Chairman, this is wrong and it should not be encouraged. The Chairman has done nothing wrong for a faceless group to call on EFCC to probe him,”it stated.

The group added that; “The activities of the Councils are in the public domain for all to check out. We stand for the truth as only truth can set us free. We hereby give the Warri South West  Council Boss a clean bill of health as he has never been found wanting and we implore the EFCC and the general public to ignore the call for his probe. He has no skeleton in his cupboard. Most Councils in the state cannot pay salaries not to talk of the execution of projects and so where is the money to be embezzled”.

According to the group also ;”In the face of financial crisis facing Councils in the state, the Warri South West Council Boss has kept his promises to the people and has not and will not mismanage the resources of the Council.”
