President Muhammadu Buhari

A political pressure group under the aegis of Concerned Citizens Forum has said that President Muhammadu Buhari has failed Nigerians.

The group therefore, urged President Buhari to strengthen the nation’s institutions  rather than concentrating on individuals.

Business mogul and Coordinator of the the group, Ambassador Anthony Nwangwu who spoke to our correspondent in Warri today noted that President Buhari does not have what it takes to move the country forward, alleging that President Buhari has no economic knowledge to bring the country out of where it is.
Nwangwu, who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) LightWorld and Industries, stressed that the nation cannot progress if the country is not restructured, noting that the structure of the country must be changed to allow all regions manage their resources and grow at their own pace.
He lamented that a country like Nigeria that has a lot of human and natural resources was allowed to waste away as no sound economic policies have been put in place by the President Buhari’s administration.
Nwangwu said President Buhari has to give education the pride of place if he wants the country to move forward, adding that it was very disappointing on the part of the Federal Government to ignore education and give priority to Boko Haram terrorists group.
The business mogul added that President Buhari’s government lacks visible economies policies that will create jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in the country, adding that the youths are the engine room of any successful government.
He added that President Buhari guffed when he said that he will give priority attention to 95% of those who voted him into power knowing  that it was the 5% of those who did not vote for him that  are sustaining the country.
He wondered why President Buhari has not proscribed the activities of Fulani herdsmen even after the wanton killing and destruction they have caused in the country, noting that more people have been killed by Fulani herdsmen in President Buhari’s administration than any other administration since independence.
“President Buhari is a weakling. If not how would you described the way he is handling the activities of the Fulani herdsmen, his kinsmen. The Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) who came out to demonstrate on the streets that they want their independence were proscribed as terrorist group. But the Fulani herdsmen who have killed more people since the creation of this country are still roaming the streets free. The President is not bothered and he is not doing anything about it because the Fulani herdsmen are his people. What kind of President does what Buhari is doing,” Nwangwu said.
While noting that killings by Fulani herdsmen have increased since Buhari took over power in the country, Nwangwu called on President Buhari to put laws in place that would jail anyone that will be caught carrying an AK47 rifle.
He gave President Buhari a knock saying that his anti-corruption fight had made a mockery of how corruption should be fought, stressing that since the corruption fight started meaningful headway has been made.
He also noted that capital flight has made the naira to lose its value because the demand for naira has reduced since Nigeria has become a consuming nation rather than a producing nation.
“The government should spend less on recurrent expenditure and spend more on capital projects. Government should ensure that we have steady power supply in the country because power is what is making developed countries have an edge over developing countries. When you have power, you will discover that our production capacity will be increased,” Nwangwu added.
On agriculture, Nwangwu said the government of President Buhari was not doing enough to improve agriculture in the country, adding that there are not enough programmes and policies that will  develop the agricultural sector.
Nwangwu emphasized that it was about time the country was taken down and restructured, adding “we have been patching Nigeria for too long and this is the time for us to decide what we want this country to be.”
He noted that it was only when the country is restructured that the people will begin to have hope, saying that “it is possible to make Nigeria one of the best country’s in the world.”
“Corruption has been part and parcel of Nigeria since independence. The white man instituted corruption in this country when he said that the people in the north are more than the people in the east, west and south combined together. How can the north be more than all of us combined together? What corruption is worst than that?” Nwangwu said.
He said that for Nigeria to move forward it needs viable leaders who understand what the economy of the country is all about, adding that, “this is the worst governmentt we have ever had since independence.”
