The Government of Bayelsa State has assured Bayelsans of the implementation
of critical reforms which are aimed at propelling local government councils
for effective service delivery in line with Governor Seriake Dickson’s
restoration agenda.

This was made known by the newly appointed Commissioner for Local
Government Administration, Mitema Obodor, in Yenagoa after recieving
handover note from his predecessor, James Dugo, recently.

Chief Mitema Obodor stressed that the forthcoming reforms at the LGA level
will act as catalyst in ensuring the opening up of the rural areas to
development and other dividends of democracy in Bayelsa State.

Chief Obordor stressed that success in the task ahead depends on the
cooperation of all principal officers of the ministry and urged them to
work together tirelessly as a team in order to achieve set goals in the
interest of the populace.

He added that he was proud of his achievements as Commissioner for Sports
Development, and requested due diligence and sincerity of purpose among the
staff in order to replicate similar achievements in his new office.

He commended his predecessor, James Dugo, for his dedicated service to the
state and wished him God guidance in all his future endeavours .

Earlier the outgone Commissioner for Local Government and Community
Development, James Dugo expresed his heartfelt appreciation to Governor
Dickson for the opportunity given to him to serve and urged the staff to
extend their hands of fellowship to his successor describing him as a
consummate team player while the permanent secretary, Nathan Ayebakeme
affirmed support to Obordor.
