GOOD Shepherd Catholic Boys’ Secondary School, Oyede has emerged Third position in the just concluded Annual Seplat Pearls Quiz Competition.

The competition is organized annually by Seplat Petroleum Development Cooperation.

Seplat began this local empowerment initiative involving all Secondary Schools in host states in an all round curriculum quiz competition, barely three years ago.

In this year’s quiz competition, over 900 schools in Edo and Delta States participated which began in May and went through several stages of elimination and capped on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Okpe Hall in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

In the final competition, Good Shepherd Catholic Boys’ Secondary School, Oyede smiled home with the Third Position.

Reacting to the cheering news, the Principal of Good Shepherd Catholic Boys’ Secondary School, Oyede, Rev. Fr. Andrew Orogun, said that “I actually was interested in the first prize though, but when we lost the semi finals, I had to encourage the young men to target the third position which they got”.

He added that; “I was very confident of the abilities of my students hence I was interested in the first prize. The boys tried a great deal. They displayed great courage and intelligence. It says so much about the high standard maintained in the school. We are committed to our mission and vision of enhancing productive learning in a serene and conducive environment.”
