…..Excites customers with digital simpler and smarter transformation

It was excitement in Delta State as Union Bank played host to three major communities during the unveiling of three of the banks newly upgraded branches as part of efforts to make banking simpler and smarter for its teeming customers.

The three upgraded branches of the bank unveiled are located at  Effurun/Sapele road, Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area,Ughelli/Patani road Ughelli, and Union Bank at Otite Junction, by Ajogodo Road  in Sapele, Delta State.

TheBank which has been launching its simpler and smarter products and newly upgraded branches in different states of the country were received with excitement by customers in the State, who expressed joy over the transformation of the bank into a simpler and smarter bank.

Speaking at the branch unveil in Effurun, the Chief Executive Officer, Union Bank, Mr Emeka  Emuwa said they were in  Delta State to unveil the banks simpler and smarter package that will afford  customers quality, reliable, secured and effective services.

According to him, “We are here to formally unveil our new brand. What we are trying to do is in continuation of our transformation journey that started few years ago. We want to let our customers know we are reliable and  we have some innovations  which makes banking simpler and smarter through our ATM’s, Mobile and Internet banking platforms.”

“We want to assure our customers that we are innovative bank and want to be seen as big, strong, reliable, simpler and smartest bank. We have refurbished over 60 branches across the country and a lot have gone into the product that we are unveiling”,he added.

The new innovations, he said came as a response to customers’ desire and the bank commitment to serve its customers better.

Speaking to newsmen, the bank Transformation Director, Joe Mbulu called on customers to partner with the bank in utilizing the transformed platform, saying that customers can now do bank transaction from the comfort of their beds using online, e-banking and mobile banking platforms.

Assuring customers of security, Mbulu said; “Our pillar is our transformational standard, we make promise and we fulfill it. The simpler and smartest banking we have transformed into is to ensure easy banking. So, we want our customers to join us and experiment with us in this journey.”

According to him ;”As you can see, there is a difference between what you see today and what was here before. We present a simpler, smarter bank. Beside the ambience being more comfortable for our customers, it also demonstrates the fact that we’ve invested in technology. Customers can come in and come out in short time; get attended to with more improved services, and at the same time (we) have a brand identity that is more vibrant than we had before.”

He also said that; “We commenced with our people by optimizing our talent base. We hired the right people for the right roles and aligned our compensation with industry standard. We strengthened our technology by undertaking the task of rolling out a brand new banking platform and successfully implemented it. We built a state of the art datacentre. We also built the central processing centre to streamline and standardize operations across board. We restructured our business model to focus clearly on banking. We also re-enhanced our product and service offerings for our retail, commercial and corporate segments”.

Commenting on the smarter and simpler status of  the Union Bank  in  Ughelli,  HRM. Ovie R.L Ogbon, Ogoni-Oghoro 1, (JP) RDN, OON, The Owhorode Of Olomu Kingdom, commended the bank for being so reliable even in storm and turbulent times.

The Monarch  expressed joy over the transformation, saying that the bank has transformed and has brought in so many innovations that were missing before.

According to him, the bank logo bearing old and weak stallion is now changed to a young, powerful and vibrant one.

Another customer who commented during the launch was Evang. Teye  Akonu, Former Maintenance Advisor, Chevron, he  lauded  the bank for the transformation which is not limited to its modern equipment and facilities but also in excellent staff service delivery.

In his own speech, the Chief Executive Officer, GP International, Chief Gbegbaje Das 1, stated that there is a lot of positive infrastructural and service delivery change, adding that the transformations are customer oriented and beneficiary to customers.

He noted that he had been banking with  Union Bank for many years, commending the bank for their doggedness amidst different storms to transform into a smarter and simpler bank when many banks had folded up.

The high level events were graced with the crème de la crème of  Delta state which ranged from top CEOs to Religious and Traditional leaders.
