Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, has assured the people of Afor kingdom that his administration will do everything possible in ensuring that some schools in the community are upgraded.
Dr. Uduaghan who gave the assurance while presenting Staff of Office to His Royal Highness, Samson Ossai Oluem, the Okpala Uku of Afor Kingdom, Ndokwa East Local Government, Delta State, asserted that his administration as part of measures in driving home its three point agenda, remain committed to the education of every child in the state.
Represented by his Deputy, Prof. Amos Agbe Utuama ( SAN ), the governor appealed to the royal father to discharge his responsibilities with fairness and justice. His words: “As a custodian of the tradition of your people, it is important that you do not in words or action, give any cause to your subjects to doubt your ability to uphold the sanctity of their custom. I sincerely appeal to you to imbibe the democratic virtues of dialogue and consultation in all dealings with your people”.
While commending the people of Afor for the peaceful processes leading to the installation of the throne, he urged them to take advantage of the various policies and programmes of government to improve on their agricultural production capacity.
Uduaghan who appealed to the people of Afor Kingdom to strive to promote the integrity of the stool by according the royal father the respect he truly deserved, assured that their request will be channeled to the appropriate agencies of government for necessary attention.
Earlier, in an address on behalf of Afor Kingdom, the Secretary General, Chief Peter Itaboh, expressed gratitude to the state governor for his formal recognition of the Okpala Uku of Afor Kingdom.
While commending the state governor for positively impacting on Deltans through the three point agenda, he appealed to state government for the in-provision and building of standard classrooms schools in the community. He added that government should help tar the link road between Obetim and Iselegu community due to its socio-economic importance.
Also the Chairman Transition Committee, Ndokwa East, Engr. Alex Anichie, while commending the state governor for his reverence and respect for traditional institution, appealed to the royal father to be fair to all and sundry in the discharged of his duties.
