UZERE CLAN THREATENS TO WITHDRAW MEMBERSHIP FROM ISOKO DEVELOPMENT UNION (IDU)

Some indigenes of Uzere clan in Isoko South LocalGgovernment rea of
Delta State have threatened to with draw the membership of the clan
from Isoko Development Union(IDU) just as they appealed to the Delta
State Government and other relevant authorities to help resolve the
lingering crises rocking the clan to allow for sustainable development
in the land.

The indigenes made up of men and women as well as youths made the
appeal recently during a peaceful protest to draw the attention of
government to the issues in the clan.

The women of Uzere clan carried different placards with various
inscriptions such as,”We need peace in Uzere Clan,” “we  say No to
crisis in our Clan.” “Govt., Pls rise up to the occasion, give us
sustainable peace,” among many others depicting issues agitating their
minds and other members of their communities to the Delta State
Government.

The men and youths were not also left out as they entered an emergency
meeting simultaneously with the placards carrying women to chat a way
forward for the clan.

Speaking, Engr. Felix Enwenede, President General, Uzere Clan said
that the issues in the clan started since August 2019 when some
persons from the clan allegedly tried to create division in the clan
over monies from an oil firm.

Engr. Enwenede added that as a peace loving clan they wrote to the
Chairman,Isoko South Local Government Council, security operatives and
the Uzere Traditional Council of Chiefs with regards to the issues
likely to threaten the peace and security of the clan.

The Uzere clan President General disclosed that stakeholders of the
clan have reached a resolution to pull out its membership of the Uzere
clan from the Isoko Development Union IDU.

According to a resolution made available to the Urhobo Voice, the
Uzere Clan added that the clan is withdrawing High Chief Iduh Amaidhe
from IDU.

Engr. Enwenede alleged that some other persons are the ones fueling
the crises in the clan and as a clan they would not want to continue
identifying with IDU any longer.

The withdrawal document was signed by the President General, Engr.
Felix Enwenede,  the Oletu Odhe, Chief Fredrick Uyeh, the Secretary
General, Apostle Patrick O Omoweh, the Oletu Uhei Quarters, Mr Stanley
Okoh, the Oletu Ezede Quarters, Mr College Okpeke, Oletu Uweye
Quarters, Mr Michael Awonye, Chief Felix O Eyetuoma for the Uzere
Council of Chiefs, Chief Tiro Odoh for Oletu Ewhyae, and Chief Omoweh
Meeting for Oletu Ovrawah.

IThe people expressed the hope that timely intervention of the State
Government and other relevant stakeholders on the issues will no doubt
speed up the resolution of the lingering crises in the Uzere clan and
usher in overall development of the area.
