With less than four months to the termination of the present administration, Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, has nominated two former governorship aspirants in the last PDP gubernatorial primaries, Tony Obuh and Charles Emetulu as Commissioners and members of the State Executive Council.
The letter conveying the names of the two nominees, addressed to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Peter Onwusanya, was read on the floor of the house at the resumed plenary after long adjournment for Christmas and New Year celebration.
The two nominees, Tony Obuh, a retired Permanent Secretary in the Delta State Civil Service, who was the man powerfully supported by the governor as his successor but dumped on the eve of the primaries and Mr. Charles Emetulu, the immediate past commissioner for Energy were immediately invited for screening and their appointments confirmed instantly.
The two nominees after introducing themselves, including their local governments of origin, were asked by the Speaker, Hon Peter Onwusanya, to take a bow and leave following application to that effect by the Majority Leader, Hon Monday Igbuya.
The house also screened and confirms the appointment of Mr. Famous Ofurobri as Secretary Bomadi Local Government Council.
Meanwhile, the House has approved the sum of N39 billion for the 2014 Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) following the consideration of the commission’s budget as sent by the state Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan
The House has further adjourned plenary by one month to resume March 5, 2015, to enable them have time to go about their ongoing campaigns before this month’s general elections.
