The Millinuem Development Goals (MDGs) in Bayelsa State has disclosed its intention to make provision of mini-water schemes and other social amenities which are lacking in some communities in the state.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on MDGs, Hon. Apere Embeleakpo, who made this disclosure in a recent meeting with the eight LGAs Chairmen in the state, also urged them to do a proper reassessment of the social amenities which are lacking in their various councils in order not to have duplication of projects.

Hon. Apere also stressed the need for them to be sensitive while making their assessments so that the deficient social amenities will be put in place based on the people’s needs.

He added that they would also see that some health centres are equipped with quality materials for them to reach out to the people properly including provision of books for some schools in the state. He also advised that the Chairmen should rather nominate other communities who do not have social amenities or bid for others which are deficient than duplicate projects.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, Bayelsa State Chapter, Hon. Chubby Ben Walson, charged the SSA and the other Chairmen to take advantage of what they have discussed in the meeting and add something meaningful to their LGAs in order to fulfill some of their electioneering promises which they made to the people.

Also, the Chairman of Sagbama Local Government Area, Hon. Willy Oyadongha, stressed the need for priority to be placed on projects. He also added that their inputs should be considered since they are also part of the MDGa project in the state.
