The Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Traditional Council of Warri South and Warri South West Local Government Areas of Delta State have announced the program of activities for the final Royal burial rites of their late monarch, His Royal Majesty Pere the Amakosu of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom, Oduwor III.

The Royal Father joined his ancestors two years ago. The announcement was made by Chief (Dr.) Samson Y. Mamamu (JP), the Ijaw Toro-Ebediwe of Warri, His Royal Highness, the Regent of Ogbe-Ijoh, Warri kingdom.

According to the Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Traditional Council, the royal burial will kick-start on Saturday 24th of May 2014 and ends on Friday 30th May 2014.

The program of activities, according to the press statement made available to newsmen at Ogbe-Ijoh, the burial rites will start with the traditional wake keep on Saturday 24th May and climax with a procession by the six quarters of Ogbe-Ijoh/Warri Kingdom and the burial rites proper on the 3oth of May 2014.

According to the statement, the late monarch was born in 1922 at Ogbe-Ijoh Town, the present day Headquarters of Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta state into the families of Sokoh Gbenebode and Adonbagha Arogho of the five Ruling Houses in Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom.

“Before the Kingship, His Royal Majesty was known as I.S.S. Sokoh Gbenebode. To comply with the Tradition of Ogbe-Ijoh/Warri Kingdom, he became known as PERE: Amakosu of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom, Oduwor III,” the statement further stated.

The late monarch was elected as Amakosu-elect in 1974 in line with the tradition of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom from the Arotenghan Ruling House of Ogbe-Ijoh and installed as the 11th Pere: Amakosu of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom, Oduwor III in 1974.
