The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has accepted the Supreme Court judgment that has affirmed the election of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, saying that they will start mobilizing the citizens to kick out the Peopple’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019.

Speaking to our correspondent in telephone conversation in Warri yesterday, the Media Coordinator of Emerhor Campaign Organization, Dr. Fred Latmore Oghenesivbe said that since the Supreme Court has ended all legal battles, the party will now concentrate on strengthening the party leadership in the state.

Latimore who is also the South-West Publicity Secretary of the Grassroots Mobilizers for Buhari (GMB) said that in order to ensure that the leadership of party comes out stronger in the next elections, it is exploiting all avenues to reconcile Chief Great Ogboru and Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, who are both from Delta Central Senatorial district, to ensure that the duo work together to wrestle power from the “misrule of PDP in 2019.”

He said; “The leadership of the party is going to be strong in the nearest future because we are optimistic that the likes of Chief Great Ogboru and Barrist Ovie Omo-Agege and their party supporters will soon decamp to APC. We are also trying to recruit progressive minded individuals who are in other political parties to come and join us to enable us mobilize for the 2019 general elections.

“There is going to be a massive reconciliation between Chief Ogboru and Olorogun Emerhor and I believe that the reconciliation will come before the next elections. They are going to work together as one. Delta Central people are going to speak with one voice and they are going to work with other senatorial districts to ensure that APC takes over power in 2019.”

He also advised the party to start their grassroots mobilization immediately and should not wait until a year or two before elections when most of the populace have already decided which party they want to vote for in the next elections.

“The Supreme Court has spoken and all legal battles have ended. What Delta APC should do now is to go back to the drawing board and re-strategize for 2019 on how to win the people over. We are going to reconcile all aggrieved party members and work as one indivisible party without friction.

“APC should intensify their efforts in grassroots mobilization towards 2019 because victory depends on the level of work done now. They should not wait until it is one year before the election to start mobilization. The legal battle is over and it is now time to mobilize Deltans so as to wrestle power from the misrule of PDP,” Dr. Latimore said.

Speaking on the apology Governor Ifeanyi Okowa asked the duo of Chief Ogboru and Olorogun Emerhor to render to Deltans, Barrister Latimore said that governor had no moral standing to tell the duo to apologize for anything, stressing that the money they used to pursue the legal battles did not come from government purse but from their personal purse.

He rather, asked Governor Okowa to apologize to Deltans for using the state’s money to pursue the legal battles between him and the duo of chief Ogboru and Olorogun Emerhor.

“That statement is a political statement that has no value. It was the money of the party that was used to pursue the legal battle and not the money of the state. So if the people say they are not happy, it is Okowa that is answerable to the people because he is the one in power. He is the one in charge of the finances of the state and not APC,” Latimore added.

Latimore who faulted the Okowa ‘SMART’ agenda said the state government’s policies are anti-people’s police, adding Governor Okowa’s policies were only meant to impoverish the people rather than improve their lives.

He said; “The present government’s policies are anti-people’s policies. For example, the state government is taxing Okoda men one hundred and thirty-five thousand naira every month and yet he is talking about prosperity for all while he is taxing the people who are struggling to make ends meet.

“Take for example, his so called SMART agenda programme. We do not know how smart this SMART agenda program is because the youths who have just finished from one of the programmes are given starter packs of not more than thirty thousand naira each. We even hear that some of the youths had gone ahead to sell some these starter packs given to them because they are of no value to them. So under this kind of anti-peoples a policy there is no way the state can move forward.”
