In his Easter message, signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Peter Okhiria, the Governor said “as we join Christians all over the world to celebratethis Easter, I urge the faithful in Edo State and Nigeria to imbibe thecore values of Christianity and the lessons of the season which aresacrifice, love, sharing and forgiveness of sins.

“We should remember that the progenitor of the Christian faith is alsoknown as the ‘Prince of Peace’ and we should, therefore, embrace peacewith all men and maintain the peace which we have enjoyed in the statein thepast years.

“As we celebrate, we should not forget to extend a hand of fellowshipto the less-privileged among us, as Christ taught us to ‘love ourneighbours as our ourselves.’

“This season offers me another opportunity to offer my deepappreciation to the good people Edo State for their confidence in, andsupport for this government in the past seven years which has culminated in the highlevel of success recorded in our efforts to rebuild the dilapidatedstructures and infrastructure which we met on ground in 2008.

“Our modest achievements have been due, largely, to the prayers and supportof the faithful, and I urge you,in my last Easter message to you asGovernor of Edo State, to extend the same level of support to my successorwho will continue from where we stop and build on the solid structures we have put in place.

“I extend my appreciation to the Muslim faithful and people of other faith in the state for the love they have generously showered on me and the prevailing peace in the state, and I appeal to them to continue to maintain this peace now and beyond the life of this administration.

“As we celebrate, I pray that the joy of Easter encompasses you as we renew our strength to build the Edo of Our dreams.
