Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has felicitated with the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, as he marks his 61st birthday anniversary on August 8, 2017.

Governor Okowa acknowledged the gargantuan contributions of the former Governor, Lawmaker, Accountant, Banker and Teacher.

In a statement on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu, the Governor lauded Senator Makarfi for agreeing to steer the ship of the party at a time he was called upon.

He said, “As a party, we owe you immense gratitude for your purposeful leadership which has culminated in the rejuvenation of our great party.

“Since he became National Chairman of our party, he has consistently demonstrated that he is a consummate statesman who always puts the interests of the Nigerian people first.

“As you celebrates your 61st birthday today, On behalf of my family, party faithful, the government and people of Delta State, I wish you continued wisdom and foresight as you steers the ship of our great party.

According to the statement, Governor Okowa joins Makarfi’s family, friends, party faithful and admirers in celebrating another year of good health and strength for a man who has shown uncommon dedication to peace, progress, stability and development of Nigeria.

The Governor commended the PDP Chairman’s patriotism, hardwork and leadership in managing the affairs of the party through the period and in the aftermath of the party’s intra- leadership crisis and litigations.

He added that Senator Makarfi’s leadership qualities, commitment and dedication to democratic ideals has indeed endeared him to many Nigerians and party faithful who will continue to draw inspiration from his leadership style.

The Governor prayed that God Almighty would grant the Senator Makarfi many more years of happiness and good health to lead the party to greater heights.
