Special Senior Assistance on Youths Development to the Delta State Governor, Ambassador Hope George, has said that the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa is a youth friendly governor, adding his five point agenda is headed towards bring prosperity to the youths.

Ambassador Goerge, stated this at the Government House, Annex, Warri yesterday when the Youth Wing  Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Warri South, paid him a courtesy visit to congratulate him on his recent appointment as Special Assistance to the Governors on Youth Development.

Ambassador George who is also the chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Delta State Chapter, urged the youths in the state to embrace agriculture, saying that there are a lot of potentials in the agricultural sector.

He lamented that youth in his constituency, Warri South, have not being engaging in fish farming, stressing that the youths should not leave fish farming to only the elderly as there is so much money to be made from it.

Ambassador Goerge also urged the youths in the state to bring out their creativity and key into the various youth friendly programmes of Governor Okowa, adding that the state governor has already started impacting on the lives of the youths through the Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurs Programme (YAGEP) and the Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP).

He noted that Delta State is second to Lagos State in terms of high wage bill, stressing that Delta state’s wage bill is seven billion naira monthly, a situation he said, has made the state government to try and engage the youths outside white collar jobs.

While saying that he will do his best to inform the youths about programs of the state governor, Ambassador George advised youths in the state to always preach peace wherever they go, adding that without peace there will be no meaningful development in the stare.

Ambassador George reminded the youths that the flood threat that has been announced by the government has already started affecting communities in the state, urging them to spread the message and do all they can to assist the victims.

Earlier, the Chairman, YOWICAN, Warri South Chapter, Pastor Daniel Oruma said they embarked on the courtesy visit to congratulate Ambassador George on his appointment as the Senior Special Assistant on Youth Development to Governor Okowa.

Pastor Oruma also used the opportunity to thank Governor Okowa for appointing one their own in his government, saying that the youths in the state will work closely with Ambassador George to realise the five point agenda of the state government.

He appealed to Ambassador George to always get them involved in programs of the state government so that they could benefit from them also.
