DELTA State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa in Thursday commissioned a Police Station, a Primary School, and a Primary Health Care Centre, and also performed the foundation laying ceremony of Margeret Lawrence University at Owere-Olubor and Ute-ogbeje communities in Ika North East.

The projects were donated by Fountain of Joy and Comfort Foundation founded by Mr Paul Odili.

Okowa who spoke during these occasions said his administration’s advocacy for Deltans to invest in the state is paying off, as prominent indigenes of the state are contributing in different ways to develop the state.

According to the Governor, his administration is committed to providing the enabling environment for Deltans, investors to come to the state and partner with the state to ensure its speedy development, noting that apart from the events of yesterday, private organizations have built and donated library to the state government, constructed roads, among others.

Governor Okowa observed that with the enabling environment which his administration has ensured, Deltans should expect more developmental projects from government, investors and public-spirited individuals.

“It gladdens my heart that our advocacy is yielding results, our people are coming home to invest, a lot of investors are coming into our state and the multiplier benefits will be a lot of job opportunities for our people, developmental activities in different locations in our state and our people will fair better,” the Governor said.

“It is the grace of God upon Delta State that has made it possible to be witnessing these developments.” He added.


Okowa commended the fountain of Joy and Comfort Foundation for engaging in humanitarian activities. The Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris who was represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 5, Mr Abubakar Mohammed said the Police will always carry out its duties as enshrined in the Police Act.

He commended the Foundation for boosting the security in the area by donating the Police Station.

Mr Odili had said in his welcome address that what he was doing was spurred by divine call to assist the less privileged in the society.
