As part of activities to commemorates the 56th Birthday of the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Leo Ogor Okuweh, member representing Isoko Nation in the Federal House of Representatives has recently empowered his constituents in line with his avowed promise to ameliorate the poverty and pains of the people and specifically to mark the 56th Birthday of His Excellency Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.

Presenting the items, Ogor said; “I am here to celebrate our Governor’s Birthday with you and to empower those that will benefit today; instead of us to go to the media to sponsor advert in honour of him and his day of birth, as he admonished, it’s very important that, those who worked for us during the election should benefit as their reward”.

To Isoko North Union of Tricycles – he donated 24 Tricycles popularly known as keke Napep, he urged the union to use them judiciously to benefit others so as to encompass the Governor’s slogan of prosperity for all; noting that, the Delta State PDP Government is poised with the task of giving the people quality leadership and that, as a representative of Isoko in the National Assembly, the interest of his constituents is his number one priority.

Responding on behalf of the Keke Union, Comr. Aboma Victor expressed happiness over the gesture of the lawmaker saying that, it has been in the mind of the union to form a co-operative adding: “Now that we have this empowerment, we are going to use and manage it as a revolving loan such that, every day we shall collect an agreed amount of money from those that will benefit to enable us buy for others”.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Isoko North, Hon. Comr. Emmanuel Ajirioghene Egbabor and his counterpart, sir. Hon. Itiakor Constatine Ikpokpo lauded the lawmaker’s initiative even as they congratulated Governor Okowa on his Birthday, while they called on the Beneficiaries of the different items to use the materials prudently for self-reliance, personal benefit and to benefit the larger society as they are expected to contribute their quota to the economy by establishing a business through the empowerments.

Items being distributed to people

Items cum materials distributed included; 72 Gasoline generator set, 96 Skygo ladies’ bike, 48 refrigerators, 48 Hair dryer and 48 sewing machines, that was evenly distributed across the 13 wards in Isoko North and 11 wards in Isoko South respectively.
