…seeks support for Muslim pilgrim board

The Federal Commissioner Representing South South in the National Hajj Commission Of Nigeria (NAHCON), Alh. Sadiq Musa, has sympathized with Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, governor of Delta State as well as the people of Delta state over the recent attacks by hoodlums under the guise of EndSARS protesters in the state.

The NAHCON commissioner expressed his concerns during a familiarisation visit to the state commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Hon. Omamofe Pirah.

He also urged Governor Okowa to support the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (MPWB) in the state.

Responding, the commissioner for Special Duties advised Muslim youths in the state to key into the developmental programmes of the State Government at all levels and eschew violence.

He further promised to convey their message to his boss, Governor Okowa.

Earlier, in commencement of a tour of all Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board in the South South geo political zone, he had visited the Delta state chapter to inspect the level of Hajj Development Projects.

Alhaji Musa, who was in company of the zonal coordinator, South East and South South, Amin Ukoha, stated that they were assessing the pilgrims enlightenment and education programmes in order to identify and address challenges.

The team were received by members of the board led by it executive secretary, Alh. Ismaila Okudaye.

Okudaye noted that there were no Hajj Development Projects in the state, citing non availability of official vehicles and other office equipments as factors mitigating against the board’s advancement.

He also called for more awareness on the newly introduced Hajj Savings Scheme (HSS), for Muslims in the state.
