Comr. Julius Osahon, Bayelsa State Correspondent of Guardian Newspaper abducted around Evwreni near Ughelli in Ughelli North Local Government Ares along the ever busy Eas-West Expressway in Delta state has been released.

This is coming one week after he was kidnapped alongside seventeen passengers in a commercial bus which took off from Bayelsa to Warri, the bus driver of the bus was not lucky, he was killed.

The brother to the journalist simply identified as Daniel made it known to the Daily Independent in the early hours of Saturday, he disclosed that Julius was released this morning after trekking for six hours and was still sleeping.

The released journalist has since reunited with his family in Benin City where his wife, children and family members reside.

The Delta police Command is yet to issue a statement whether ransom was paid for his release but a police source in Ughelli who pleaded anonymity confirmed his release but silent on whether ransom was paid or not.

Findings revealed that his wife who was in touch with colleagues of his kidnapped hushand in Edo, Delta and Bayelsa States admitted that the family had raised a million naira as at Friday, April 1, 2022 when the kidnappers contacted her to bring five million naira (N5,000,000:00)as ransom for his release.
