Chief Ayiri Emami, The Ologboshere of Warri Kingdom, Prince Yemi Emiko and leaders of Isoko nation led by High Chief Iduh Amadhe, President General, Isoko Development Union(IDU) during the consultation visit by Itsekiri leaders on rotation of political positions in line with the principles of fairness, equity and justice.

Leaders of Isoko nation have promised to support only Itsekiri candidate for the Delta South Senatorial District seat come 2019.

Isoko leaders made this known at Isoko House in Oleh during a meeting with a high powered delegation of Itsekiri leaders.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Chief Ayiri Emami, The Ologboshere of Warri Kingdom said that they were sent by HRM Ogiame Ikenwoli, Olu of Warri to meet with their Isoko brothers to dialogue on the need for Itsekiris to be given the opportunity to represent the Senatorial District in the Senate in 2019.

Chief Emami noted that, ” it is the turn of the Itsekiris as the Isokos through Senator Stella Omu was there for four years while the Ijaws through Senator James Manager has been there for sixteen years now.”

He stressed that for fairness and equity, the Itsekiris should also be given the opportunity to represent the Senatorial District come 2019.

The Ologboshere of Warri Kingdom advocated for the rotation of political positions among the three ethnic groups in Delta South as it used to be in the past.

On his part, Prince Yemi Emiko noted that they (Itsekiris) will also dialogue with the Ijaws to also support their ambition to represent the senatorial district in the Senate in 2019.

Responding, High Chief Iduh Amadhe, President General, Isoko Development Union(IDU) commended Itsekiri leaders for the consultation visit saying that it is timely.

High Chief Amadhe disclosed that the Isokos are solidly behind the senatorial ambition of the Itsekiris because the (Isokos) believes in fairness, equity and Justice.

The President General of Isoko Development Union (IDU) further disclosed that the Isokos will not field any candidate for the Delta South Senatorial seat during the forthcoming general elections as a show of their commitment to their belief that it is the turn of the Itsekiris to represent Delta South Senatorial District in the Senate come 2019, he urged Itsekiri leaders to also meet with Ijaw leaders on the issue to get their support.

High Chief Iduh promised on behalf of Isoko nation that they are in support of the return of rotation of political offices among the three ethnic groups in Delta South Senatorial District.
