The Independent National Electoral Commission has directed its offices in the 25 Local government areas of Delta state to conduct a mock accreditation using the newly acquired card reader machine.
The Warri-North INEC Electoral Officer, Mr. Magbegor Ovim who made this known at a meeting with security agents and party chieftains from Labour Party, People’s Democratic Party, All People’s Congress and Alliance for Democracy in Koko, said the exercise was to ascertain the claims of the manufacturer on the card reader machine’s durability and ability to function in a challenging environment.
Speaking on the collection of PVCs in the council area, the Electoral Officer lamented the attitude of community leaders in the creeks toward mobilizing their people for the collection of their cards, noting that out of the 16 thousand cards received recently, only six thousand have been so far collected. He then called on party leaders present to mobilize their supporters for collection of their cards.
Reacting to the exercise being proposed in a unit in Koko town, the Warri-North PDP Chairman, Mr. John Okoroloko, opined that the same exercise should be conducted in the creeks because of their challenging temperature.
On his part, the Divisional Police Officer, Koko Police station, Mr. Omoijale Joe, assured the commission of the police readiness in deploying policemen to every polling unit in the council area during the elections.
