Former chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Delta State Chapter, Mike Ikeogwu, has been reelectd as Chairman of the union for a second term.

In a keenly contested election, Ikeogwu, the Redemption team candidate defeated Churchill Oyovwe with five votes to return as Chairman of the union for the next three years.

A total of 484 persons voted during the said election.

Churchill, who depended on his colleagues in the Ministry of Information to deliver him, narrowly lost to Ikeogwu.

Churchill served under Ikeogwu as Secretary in the last adminstration and was the Prize Team candidate in the just concluded election.

Meanwhile, Ikeogwu and others have since been sworn-in.

Other members of the new executive are: Comrade Salvation Ogono, Vice Chairman; Comrade Patrick Ochei, Secretary;

Comrade Felix Ekwu, Assistant Secretary and Comrade Afokobah Celestine, Auditor.

Comrade Patrick Ochei was the only candidate of the Prize Team that won his position while the other positions were won by the Redemption Team candidates.

Present at the swearing in was the Delta State Commissioner of Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, and some executive members of the National leadership.
