The embattled Uvwie Local government chairman Hon. Henry Baro  today said he was a victim of a power drunk naval officer.

Hon. Henry Baro

He claimed that the Naval Officer, Mr. Rex Bogoadjera, attached to the Delta Shopping Mall as security agent  came after him while he was settling an issue of his car brushed by a  hit and run truck driver.

He stated that, unfortunately for the ill-luck truck driver he was held up by traffic at Effurun roundabout where he later met with him and his truck assistant, adding that the truck driver came out begging him that the mistake was caused by his assistant.

According to him, it was at this junction, the drunken naval officer walked out from his duty post without uniform asking questions with curiosity.

While speaking with journalists at Tegaton hotels through his Social Media Communication aide, Comrade Felix A. Otiti, claimed that since the commissioning of the Delta Shopping Mall right from that moment till now, Hon. Henry Baro had stepped inside the complex.

He quoted Baro as saying that, “I didn’t go to the mall. A trailer had an accident with my car and made away. Unluckily for them, traffic got them stuck near the roundabout about. So at least I bothered to understand why they didn’t bother to check with me ; the driver came down and was begging that it was his  assistant motor boy, I was all alone and didn’t not even want to further the case; thereabout a naval personnel on mufti. Who is attached to the shoprite came across the road to meet us and asked what was the matter. I simply asked to know his identity and he flared up asking me if I was mad and warned me not to ask him again; frankly, I told him it was important he introduced himself, next he held my t-shirt against my neck so tightly like a thief and brought out a dagger; he then beckoned on his colleague who crossed over d road to meet us with a gun and they forcefully took me to their shop rite duty post.”

“My simple crime is who am I to ask for his identity; the colleague used his gun to destroy my Toyota venza side mirrors and anything glass and drove it to their yard. While all these was going on onlookers had raised alarm and bunch of Uvwie sons and mostly my supporters trooped in to rescue me and on seeing d mammoth crowd, he took a dock into the mall and frankly they went after him in protest. At this point it was still under control until other criminal elements hijacked the protest and it became riotous,” he added

Baro who frowned at the activities  of the youths and  sincerely apologised to the general public and Delta Mall for the incident also was quoted as saying; ” I am not an advocate of violence “.

He further pleaded with the management that his core supporters would never do such ugly things ,”because they know my interest in that Mall from land acquisition through the completion without single case of breach of peace. The whole incident is regrettable.”
