The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has adopted the recommendation of its adhoc Committee on the non-payment of salaries in the Local Government Councils.

The committee had recommended that salaries of staff be given priority and henceforth, no expenditure should be made in all the councils until salaries are paid; that the state government in conjunction with the councils as a matter of urgency should work out modalities for the immediate payment of salaries owed by the various councils till date.

It further recommended that the state government should improve, through the relevant agencies, its supervision of the various councils, and that the councils be barred from taking any form of loans or financial liabilities until the Assembly dispenses with the matter on hand.

The House granted the request of the adhoc committee to extend its.investigation by one month to enable it interact further with petitioners and other stakeholders for a holistic resolution of the matter.

Also in plenary, the member representing Southern Ijaw Constituency III and president of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Hon. Daniel Baraladei Igali informed the House that the efforts of the restoration Government in the sports sector is paying off handsomely as thirteen.(13) out f twenty one (21) wrestlers who have qualified to represent.Nigeria in the forth coming All Africa Games are from Bayelsa State.

In another development, Dr. Boumokumo Edmund Kpokiri has been nominated by the governor as a member of the State Civil Service Commission to replace the late  Dr. Patrick Tekena.
