Jesse Ese, Yenagoa

The Commissioner of Trade, Industry and Investment, Hon. Ayakeme Massa, has stated that government would ensure that the Kpansia Market in Yenagoa is completed and commissioned in January next year.

This was as a result of the peaceful agreement between the land owners and government concerning the New Kpansia Market project which has been on for some time.

The Commissioner, who went to liaise with the property owners, stated that they made them to understand that there must be sacrifice for a community to grow adding that government also shares there pains and they would do all they can to reduce it.

Hon. Ayakeme commended them for their deep understanding and cooperation. He also stated that government will make payment to the land owners immediately; adding that the contractors will move to the site to commence work immediately.

Also speaking at the construction site, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Barr. Collins Daniel, stated that they had earlier made a media announcement to the property owners to be at the site in order to deliberate on the issue surrounding the market on the instruction of Gov. Dickson.

He stressed that that is enough evidence to prove to the general public that government does not intend to forcefully acquire the land, adding that they only went there to negotiate with the property owners.
